Academic Writer is now mobile-responsive, meaning the display and functionality can adjust based on your screen size. On mobile operating systems, Chrome and Firefox are supported for Android devices and Chrome, Firefox, and Safari are supported for iOS devices.

Some frequently used features and functionality optimized for the mobile version of Academic Writer include the ability to

  • Access the homepage, Welcome menu links (including editing your profile), File Cabinet links, and Getting Started and Writing Center orientation lessons;

  • Access the Learning Center to browse, search, and filter lessons based on title or type; view lessons in full screen; and download samples;

  • View and search your existing collection of references in My References, add new references from APA PsycInfo indexing, and delete references;

  • Write papers, cite existing references, call out and embed tables and figures, use spell and grammar check, format headings, create an annotated bibliography, export your paper; and

  • Create and edit tables, figures, and appendices.

While these features make Academic Writer more easily navigable on mobile and tablet devices so you can complete work on the go, there are some limitations to the mobile environment.

In the Learning Center, you cannot access links to EPUB reader content like the Learn More links to Publication Manual content.

In the Reference Center you cannot

  • Create or edit references using reference forms or RIS import

  • Manage reference tags

  • Export references

While you’re writing papers, you cannot access certain features like

  • Preview and Version History

  • Certain Research Lab Book tools like Develop My Research Idea, Plan and Track My Research, Describe My Test and Measures, and Track the Flow of Participants

  • Check tools like Check Headings Order and Match Reference Citations

  • Paper asset pane below the body editor
