To access Academic Writer’s word count tool select View then Check Word Count.

You can view the word count for components other than the body of your paper including the title page, abstract, keywords, paper body, reference list, tables, figures, and appendices.

You can also access this feature if you go to the Main Menu and select the Check menu then select Check Word Count.
